Our Values

Justice

We want to explore what a more just society can look like. This means working intersectionality on projects, programs and training - this is our overarching guiding principle which explored allyship / anti racism.

Climate

Climate is a key issue in our work, it informs everything from our food systems, housing, to the wellbeing of future generations, culture, economy and the natural world, ensuring we are living within planetary boundaries.

Place

What can we affect over 8 years that will affect the next 80 in Carmarthen? How can we create new resources that speak to the urgencies of place which connect specifically to the rural context of the town. How can the oldest town model a radical future?

Poverty

This issue is critical to the work of localmotion, and creating spaces to bring this to the table will become increasingly important. We need to understand and act on the root causes, impact on those who live with disabilities.

Young People

Our young assembly project explores the impact that young voices can have as well as exploring multigenerational work for the future of Carmarthen. What is this generation of young people inheriting ?

Our Themes

Relational ways of working

We prioritise a dialogic and grounded collaborative way of working, in which power and privilege are held to account, and developing long term and regenerative relationships and collaborations are the future.

Lived experience

We seek to platform the experiences of those voices that are often seldom heard to bring urgent and needed perspectives. We value and listen deeply and help develop new leadership skills to create a democratic process led way of working.

Care

We want to work with care as a key ingredient, we want to look at systems of care. What roles can radical care and allyship, friendship and comradeship play in this work?

Courage

We want to make courage emerge in our work and in ourselves. We realise this is courageous work and we need to find ways to harness and grow this quality. This means to speak truth to power, to hold to account ways of working that divides, silences and creates inequality.

Creativity

We believe creativity is key to change, and culture is what brings us together makes us a community. We want to harness creativity, play for time through creativity to bring a different reading to the work we are forming.
