What is LocalMotion?
We’re a movement that wants to bring people together to create new ways of working for change in Carmarthen. We’re investing in new community resources and creating spaces to think and work differently. Without the constraints of traditional funding, we’re free to shape our community’s future together. We’d like you to be part of this. LocalMotion is a joint initiative by five funders and six places across the UK to support communities in a more radical, joined-up way between 2024 and 2032.
What are we up to at LocalMotion Carmarthen?
We’re hosting feasts, creating gardens, and supporting community initiatives, to develop a movement for social, economic, and environmental justice - from the ground up!
We aim to:
• Listen to ideas from the people, for the people.
• Challenge power structures that hold change back.
• Promote local strengths, culture, heritage and the Welsh language.
• Learn new skills together to address social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Where?
Our activities are centred in Carmarthen town. We’re a citizen-led movement and work in partnership on a number of different scales – from one street at a time to town wide festivals. Look out for pop-up sites, workshops, feasts, and engagement events.

Local and national change
LocalMotion Carmarthen is part of a bigger network driving local change across England and Wales. Collectively we aim to address poverty, inequality, and outdated practices. We’re the only LocalMotion hub in Wales.
